SURRENDER DOROTHY
This painting premiered in the ‘Inspirations of Oz Fine Art Collection,’
which began its world tour at Art Basel in Miami.

High in the Wicked Witch’s tower stands Nikko a Winged Monkey, carefully guarding Toto. Sand slowly passes through the Hourglass awaiting the Witch’s return. Written in the sky, are the familiar words, ‘Surrender Dorothy,’ while Dorothy and the Wicked Witch are reflected in the Crystal Ball.

WE’VE GOT TO RUN AWAY
Toto waits patiently inside Dorothy's bedroom as she prepares to get away with suitcase, family photo and basket. Outside the window is Uncle Henry’s Kansas farm with pigs, chickens, dinner bell and tire swing. Against the hopefulness of the rainbow in the distance, lies the ominous shadow of Miss Gulch on her bicycle.

This is a detail of the Wicked Witch of the West’s hourglass. Dorothy is reflected in the glass as the sand runs out. Next to the hourglass is the mortar and pestle used to conjure the poppies.

INSIDE THE CYCLONE
As Dorothy travels to the land of Oz, she is fascinated by the assortment of characters and things flying past her bedroom window. Here, Miss Gulch begins her transformation into the Wicked Witch of the East, complete with The Ruby Slippers. The chickens depicted are the same prize winning breeds raised by Oz author, L. Frank Baum. A cow name Imogene, was a character in earlier productions of The Wizard of Oz.
